Warmachine Oblivion
Life in the Iron Kingdoms is always filled with conflict. However, this feels different. There's a lot of chaos that can't be attributed to any one disaster, man made or otherwise. Secretly, the Infernals are working on coming to Caen.
Guardians
Chad and Phil will be our Guardians. Chad plays Circle Orboros and Phil plays Khador. Though not allies in the usual sense, their actions work together to try to calm the unrest throughout their respective territories.
For Chad's part, the Circle Orboros don't like that stuff is messing with the ley network , and Phil's Khadoran Empire has had to put down more cults than is usual.
Corruptors
Felix and Francesc will be our Corruptors. Felix plays Trollbloods, and Francesc plays Cygnar.
Wait, how are they the bad guys? Well, let's assume that Khador is trying to stop uprisings and the like and Circle is moving into Trollbloods territories to investigate the chaos, and instead of figuring that all out peacefully they all come into conflict because Khador must be stopped always and TRolls basically have no lands anyway, so why not mess with Druid incursions?
The Scenario Tree
This is the campaign tree previewed on the developer hangout on twitch. Circles are scenario names.
Tier 1 Prologue
The prologue is the bottom three circles. Doomed Patrol, Rising Tensions, Border War. The hangout was unclear as to what the outcomes of these scenarios would lead to, but apparently all players play them in sequence (I think, the names suggest that that's how that will be), and they will be smaller points scenarios (they stated 20-30 in the hangout).
Let's suppose that we played the first two scenarios against the same opponent, got sick of each other and swapped to the other opponent in the agenda. That might look like this:
Doomed Patrol and Rising Tensions

Chad (Circle Orboros) |
![]() |
Francesc (Cygnar) |
Let's say Chad's Circle wins 2 games against Francesc's Cygnar.
![]() |
Felix (Trollbloods) |
![]() |
Phil (Khador) |
And we'll say that Felix's Trollbloods splits the difference between Doomed Patrol and Rising Tensions.
For the final scenario, Border War, they decide to switch off meaning that Chad's Circle play Felix's Trollbloods in Border War, and Francesc's Cygnar plays against Phil's Khador.
If Phil and Chad both win these matchups, that means the Guardians will have won the prologue 5-1. Six games have been played.
Right now we don't know how or why these victory counts will matter. I guess that will be a question for Lock and Load.
Tier 2 Guardian Battles

Chad (Circle Orboros) |

Phil (Khador) |
Chad's next games will be along the Guardian path of the tree. His next scenario therefore will be a War for Peace. As his antagonist he chooses Francesc's Cygnar as his opponent and loses the match. As a result, Chad's next protagonist game at the next tier will be The Sanguine Trail.
As a reward for winning an antagonist match, Francesc gets to draw 1-2 Omen cards from the deck. They mentioned some in stream, but I can't think of how they work exactly.
Since Phil is also a Guardian, he gets to also play the scenario a War for Peace. For his opponent he chooses Felix's Trollbloods. Felix loses the match which advances Phil along Tier 3 to Seeds of Hope.
Tier 2 Corruptor Battles
Felix chooses Chad's Circle for his opponent and since Phil has a trivia night to go to, Francesc ALSO chooses to play Chad for when it's his turn to play the scenario.
For Felix's protagonist match, he loses against Chad's Circle Orboros. At Tier 3, Felix will have to play the Buried at Sea scenario. Chad draws 1-2 Omen Cards as he's the antagonist.
In Francesc's match, however, he does something sneaky. Remember those Omen cards he drew? He plays them now against Chad and does something wacky like prevent ambush and/or advance deployment which gives him enough breathing space to win. At Tier 3, Francesc's protagonist match will be Reckless Assault.
Tier 2 Results
Felix and Francesc have played 2 games each, 1 as protagonist, 1 as antagonist.
Phil only has time this week to play 1 game as protagonist.
Meanwhile, Chad has time to play 3 games, 1 as protagonist, 2 as antagonist.
It's interesting to note that everyone has to play their 1 protagonist game, but can play as many antagonist games as needed. Omen cards can be used to help secure victories early on and advance along what I'm assuming are more advantageous scenarios, but in order to score those cards you have to lose matches as antagonists.
Players on the same side can follow different tracks up the Guardian/Corruptor paths.
Both Guardians and Corruptors went 1-1 in tier 2, meaning that all 4 scenarios will be played at Tier 3.
Only Chad has Omen cards assuming that Francesc burned his to win his match.
Tier 3 and Beyond
It looks like the branching paths give three scenario outcomes to play for each side, and one is a fully victorious path, one is a path with two losses, and one is in the middle with 1 victory, 1 loss.
Phil won his game, so his Tier 3 scenario will be Seeds of Hope. A victory will lead him to Towards the Light, while a defeat will lead him to Left Behind.
Chad lost his game, so his Tier 3 scenario will be Sanguine Trail. A victory there brings up to Left Behind, while defeat means he will play Dark Days.

Felix (Trollbloods) |
![]() |
Francesc (Cygnar) |
On the Corruptor side, Felix lost his match so the Trollbloods have to play Buried at Sea. Losing again will make him play The Last Ride, while a victory will let him play Clouded Visions.
Francesc, on the other hand, won his match so he will get to play Reckless Assault. If he wins Reckless Assault, he will move on to The End is Nigh, and if he loses, then he will also have to play Clouded Visions.
Who's Winning?
I think it's difficult to say, which might be intentional. I'm assuming there will be interesting rules other than the Omen cards for the victors of protagonist scenarios, so stockpiling Omen cards won't be the only path to winning the final battle.
We'll have to find out more, but for now it seems as if Winning protagonist scenarios will give a side more fixed rewards written into the scenarios while winning as antagonists in other people's scenarios will add random rewards that will mix things up. Hopefully both will be useful towards winning the final battle (Trollbloods and Cygnar vs. Circle Orboros and Khador in Gateway to Oblivion).
Either way, I think it will be fun to play.
