So previously, I was little over-excited about the new epic form of Vladimir Tzepesczi. I mean, really I just wanted to play with the model because he had a crown, right?
Wrong!
After playing a 50point game against Seth Watkins, I feel that Prom King Vlad has much more than a crown to offer Khador.
I fielded him with cav, doom reavers, fenris, conquest, markov, and I have this to say:
- I love Fenris with Prom King Vlad. Great Prince of Umbrey protects the Berserk Abomination, increases his threat range and gives him movement shenanigans.
- Conquest with Infernal Machine is equally wonderful. +2 SPD gives you positioning that you wouldn't otherwise have with a colossal. And +2 MAT on a reach model with a huge base? Walk up and slap anything you like.
- Launching cav at stuff under the feat is a lot of fun. Sidestep and Sprint together give you a massive retreat range. Put Dash in there and cavalry will end up anywhere it wants.
- Vlad is starving for focus. Drago helps with his efficiency, but it's nearly impossible to cast everything you need to cast and keep Vlad safe from a ranged attacks. I mean, Seth was playing Retribution. There was NO time in which I could let Wind Wall down. (Of course I did when I forgot, but still!)
- Abominations and Uhlan. Oops. I like this list. I think I will codify it tomorrow as one of my lists, but maneuvering Fenris, Doom Reavers and Uhlans so that they never pass within 3" of each other. Can you say "fhqwhgads"?
- Limited applicability against lists that can deny you the charge. Basically, Conquest bombards anything it can and that's it.
- A savvy player that can manage damaging a colossal. Splitting the damage tracks into two sides based on attacker position means that players who know how to position their models will get damage where and when they want to. ARM 20 is no guarantee. Protect that colossal!
